⚡ Quick Answer

The main source of Iridium Ore is Skull Cavern in the Desert, accessible after reaching mine level 120 and obtaining the Skull Key. Mine as deep as possible — Iridium nodes appear consistently from floor 100 downward. You can also get Iridium from Mystic Stones in the regular mines, from Slime Hutch purple slimes, and by purchasing it from the Krobus shop on Fridays.

How to Get Iridium Ore
1 Reach floor 120 of the regular Mines to obtain the Skull Key. This unlocks Skull Cavern in the Calico Desert — the primary Iridium source in the game. The Desert is accessible after repairing the bus at the Community Center or via Joja Mart.
2 Prepare before entering Skull Cavern. Bring a stack of Staircases (crafted from Stone) to skip floors quickly, plenty of food for HP recovery, and at minimum an Iridium Pickaxe. The deeper you go, the more Iridium nodes spawn per floor.
3 Use Staircases aggressively to descend fast. Place a Staircase on any floor to skip it instantly. Reaching floor 100+ in a single day is the goal — at those depths Iridium nodes are abundant and you can fill your inventory in one run.
4 Eat Spicy Eel or Crab Cakes before and during the run — they boost Luck and Speed respectively. On high Luck days (check the Fortune Teller on TV each morning) Iridium node frequency increases noticeably.
5 Smelt Iridium Ore into Iridium Bars in a Furnace — 5 Ore + 1 Coal per bar. Iridium Bars are used for the Iridium Pickaxe, Iridium Watering Can, Iridium Sprinklers, and several key late-game crafting recipes.
Tips
Check the TV Fortune Teller every morning — only enter Skull Cavern on good or great Luck days. Bad Luck days significantly reduce ore spawn rates and increase enemy difficulty.
Krobus sells 1 Iridium Bar every Friday for 3,000g in the Sewers — useful early on before you can reach deep Skull Cavern floors consistently.
Purple Slimes in a Slime Hutch occasionally drop Iridium Ore when killed — a passive trickle that adds up over time without any mining required.
The Miner profession (Mining level 10) gives +1 ore per node — combined with Skull Cavern deep floors, each Iridium node yields 2–4 ore instead of 1–3, dramatically speeding up collection.
Iridium is the endgame material in Stardew Valley and the gateway to the most efficient farm tools. The Iridium Sprinkler waters 24 tiles automatically every morning, the Iridium Pickaxe breaks rocks in one hit, and the Iridium Watering Can covers a 3×3 area. Getting enough Iridium for all of these is a mid-to-late Year 2 goal for most players — rushing Skull Cavern on high Luck days is the fastest way to get there. More Stardew Valley guides
