How to Find Netherite in Minecraft Fast (Best Method 2026)
Updated April 2026 · 2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
Go to the Nether and mine Ancient Debris at Y: 14-16. If you haven’t reached the Nether yet, first learn how to
make a Nether portal in Minecraft. Smelt it into Netherite Scrap, combine 4 scraps + 4 gold ingots in a crafting table to get a Netherite Ingot. Use a diamond pickaxe or better — nothing else works.
Step by Step
1
Build or find a Nether portal. You need 10 obsidian blocks and a flint and steel to activate it.
2
Go to Y: 14-16 in the Nether. Press F3 (Java) to check your coordinates. This is the most common depth for Ancient Debris.
3
Mine using TNT or bed explosions. Ancient Debris is blast-resistant so it survives explosions — this is the fastest mining method. Beds explode in the Nether when you try to sleep.
4
Smelt Ancient Debris in a furnace. Each piece gives you 1 Netherite Scrap.
5
Combine in a crafting table: 4 Netherite Scraps + 4 Gold Ingots = 1 Netherite Ingot. You need 4 ingots for a full armor set.
6
Upgrade your diamond gear using a Smithing Table. Place your diamond item + Netherite Ingot + Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template to get Netherite gear. Before farming Netherite, it’s recommended to get diamonds first. You can follow this guide on
how to get diamonds fast in Minecraft.
Tips
→
Bring Fire Resistance potions — lava in the Nether will destroy your items if you die in it.
→
Ancient Debris never spawns exposed to air — you have to mine to find it, it won’t be visible on cave walls.
→
You need the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template (found in Bastion Remnants) to upgrade gear in 1.20+.
→
Average find: 1-2 Ancient Debris per chunk at Y:15. Expect to mine a lot before getting a full set.
