How to Level Up Fast in Dark Souls 3
Updated April 2026 · Farming guide · 2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
The fastest way to level up in Dark Souls 3 is to farm souls in efficient loops close to bonfires. Early on, the best farming spots are the Lothric Knights at High Wall of Lothric. Mid-game, move to Farron Keep or the Silver Knights in Anor Londo for much faster soul gains. Equip the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring to boost every run.
Best Places to Farm Souls in Dark Souls 3
1
Early game — High Wall of Lothric. The Lothric Knights near the Tower on the Wall bonfire are one of the best early soul farming routes in the game. They give solid soul returns for how early they appear, and the bonfire is close enough to repeat the loop quickly. If you are still learning the basics, this is a great route to use after beating Iudex Gundyr.
2
Early-mid game — Crucifixion Woods. Once High Wall stops giving enough souls, move to Crucifixion Woods for faster farming. The enemies here give better returns, and the area is still manageable if your build is already online. This is a good transition zone before you unlock the strongest mid-game farming routes.
3
Mid game — Farron Keep. Farron Keep is one of the best mid-game soul farming zones because the enemies are close to bonfires and can be cleared in efficient loops. If your build has good area damage or fire, this becomes a very fast method for pushing through the 40-60 range.
4
Best overall — Anor Londo Silver Knights. The Silver Knights in Anor Londo are the most reliable soul farming method for a huge part of the game. Their soul drops are excellent, the bonfire is close, and the route is easy to repeat. Once you reach this area, it becomes the best standard place to level up fast in Dark Souls 3.
5
Use soul-boosting gear before every farming run. The Covetous Silver Serpent Ring is the most important item for soul farming because it boosts every kill. Later on, you can stack it with the Symbol of Avarice for even faster leveling.
Tips
→
Always spend souls before attempting a boss — dying twice in a row means losing everything you farmed. Level up or buy items before risky fights.
→
Do not confuse the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring with the Gold Serpent Ring — Silver boosts souls, Gold boosts item discovery.
→
If you are still early in the game, it is usually better to focus on leveling and survivability first. That matters even more if you started with a weaker setup than the best starting class in Dark Souls 3.
→
Helping other players defeat bosses is one of the safest ways to farm souls and Embers, especially if you already know early fights like Iudex Gundyr in Dark Souls 3.
