How to Get a Greenhouse in Stardew Valley
Updated April 2026 · 2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
Complete the Pantry bundles in the Community Center — specifically all six Pantry bundle rows — and the greenhouse is repaired and unlocked on your farm. Alternatively, complete the Joja Community Development Form for 35,000g if you’ve bought a Joja membership. The Pantry route is free but requires crops from all four seasons. Once unlocked, the greenhouse lets you grow any crop year-round regardless of season.
How to Unlock the Greenhouse
1Access the Community Center in Pelican Town (the large building north of Pierre’s shop). You can enter it from Spring Year 1 once you’ve met the Junimos — walk in and a cutscene triggers unlocking the bundle system.
2Complete all six Pantry bundles — Spring Crops (Parsnip, Green Bean, Cauliflower, Potato), Summer Crops (Tomato, Hot Pepper, Blueberry, Melon), Fall Crops (Corn, Eggplant, Pumpkin, Yam), Quality Crops (5× Gold quality of Parsnip, Melon, Pumpkin, Corn), Animal Products (Large Milk, Large Egg, Large Goat Milk, Wool, Duck Egg), and Artisan Products (Truffle Oil, Cloth, Goat Cheese, Cheese, Honey, Jelly, Apple, Apricot, Orange, Peach, Pomegranate, Cherry).
3Each completed bundle deposits gold stars into the Community Center room. When all six Pantry bundles are complete, the Junimos repair the greenhouse on your farm overnight — you’ll see the cutscene and find it fully functional the next morning.
4The greenhouse appears on the northwest corner of your farm. Enter it to find a 10×12 plot of tilled soil ready to plant. It also has internal water troughs you can fill — crops inside never need watering if you use sprinklers on the indoor soil.
Best Crops to Grow in the Greenhouse
→Ancient Fruit — the single best greenhouse crop. Takes 28 days to mature but then re-harvests every 7 days forever. One harvest of Ancient Fruit Wine sells for 1,650–2,310g (Artisan). Fill the greenhouse with Ancient Fruit and a full Cellar of kegs for the highest sustained income in the game.
→Fruit trees — plant all 6 fruit tree types (Apple, Cherry, Apricot, Orange, Peach, Pomegranate) around the edges of the greenhouse. They produce fruit year-round inside, unlike outdoors where they’re seasonal. Each tree produces one fruit per day once mature.
→Starfruit — if you don’t have Ancient Fruit yet, Starfruit is the next best option. Starfruit Wine sells for 2,250–3,150g (Artisan). Slower per harvest but extremely high value per crop tile.
→Install Iridium Sprinklers inside — they cover a 5×5 area and eliminate daily watering entirely. Two Iridium Sprinklers cover most of the greenhouse floor, freeing up your entire morning from watering duties. See our Iridium guide for how to get them.
Frequently Asked Questions
When can I realistically unlock the greenhouse? Most players complete the Pantry bundles by the end of Year 1 or early Year 2 if they plan ahead. The Animal Products bundle is usually the bottleneck — you need a Large Egg, Large Milk, Large Goat Milk, Wool, and Duck Egg, which require upgraded coops and barns. Start building animal facilities in Spring Year 1 to be on track.
Can crops die in the greenhouse? No — crops in the greenhouse never die from season changes since the interior has no seasons. They can die from not being watered (unless you use sprinklers), but they will never wilt at the end of a season the way outdoor crops do. Multi-season crops like Corn grow indefinitely inside.
How many crops fit in the greenhouse? The greenhouse has a 10×12 planting area (120 tiles) plus space around the edges for fruit trees. With optimal layout — fruit trees in the 4 corners and along walls, Ancient Fruit in the center — you can fit roughly 18 fruit trees and 116 crop tiles. Two Iridium Sprinklers cover the full crop area.
Is the Joja route worth it for the greenhouse?Only if you prioritise speed over the Community Center experience. The Joja greenhouse costs 35,000g and can be purchased as soon as you have the funds, potentially as early as Summer Year 1 with good money farming. However, buying a Joja membership permanently prevents completing the Community Center, locking you out of other bundle rewards.
