How to Make Wine in Stardew Valley
Updated April 2026 · 2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
Place any fruit into a Keg to produce Wine — it takes 7 in-game days to ferment. The Keg is crafted at Farming level 8 using 30 Wood + 1 Copper Bar + 1 Iron Bar + 1 Oak Resin. Wine sells for 3x the base value of the fruit used — Ancient Fruit Wine (2,310g with Artisan) is the most profitable item in the game. Always use your highest value fruit for maximum returns.
Step by Step
1
Reach Farming level 8 to unlock the Keg recipe. Level up Farming by watering crops, harvesting, and caring for animals daily. The Keg recipe unlocks automatically at level 8. You can also receive a Keg as a reward from completing certain bundles in the Community Center — the Artisan Bundle in the Pantry gives you one early.
2
Gather materials and craft the Keg. You need 30 Wood, 1 Copper Bar, 1 Iron Bar, and 1 Oak Resin. Oak Resin is tapped from Oak Trees — place a Tapper on any Oak Tree and collect the resin after 6–7 days. Craft as many Kegs as you can afford — more Kegs means more Wine fermenting simultaneously.
3
Place fruit into the Keg. Right-click the Keg with any fruit in hand — the Keg shows the fruit inside and a timer begins. After 7 days the Keg produces one bottle of Wine named after the fruit used. Right-click again to collect it. The Keg is immediately ready for the next batch.
4
Choose the right fruit for maximum profit. Wine value = fruit base value × 3. Best options by season: Spring → Strawberry Wine (540g base); Summer → Blueberry Wine (255g) or Melon Wine (750g); Fall → Pumpkin Wine (750g) or Cranberry Wine (450g); All year → Ancient Fruit Wine (2,310g with Artisan) — by far the highest value item in the game.
5
Age Wine in a Cask for even higher value. Place Wine in a Cask in your cellar (unlocked with the third Farmhouse upgrade) to age it. Silver quality takes 14 days, Gold 28 days, and Iridium 56 days. Iridium Ancient Fruit Wine sells for 4,620g with Artisan — filling your cellar with 33 Casks of Ancient Fruit Wine aging simultaneously is the peak money-making strategy in the game.
Tips
→
Ancient Fruit is the best crop in the game for Wine production — plant Ancient Seeds (found rarely from Artifact Spots or the Traveling Cart) in the Greenhouse so they produce year-round. A full Greenhouse of Ancient Fruit feeding into 100+ Kegs generates over 100,000g per week in the late game.
→
Take the Artisan profession at Farming level 10 — it adds 40% to all Artisan goods including Wine, making Ancient Fruit Wine worth 2,310g versus 1,650g without it. This single profession choice is the biggest single gold-per-hour improvement available in the game.
→
Build a dedicated Wine shed — place 100+ Kegs inside a large shed for maximum output. A full shed of Kegs all fermenting Ancient Fruit simultaneously produces a massive Wine batch every 7 days that ships for hundreds of thousands of gold per cycle.
→
Starfruit Wine is the second best option — Starfruit grows in Summer and sells for 750g base, making Starfruit Wine worth 2,250g with Artisan. Buy Starfruit Seeds from Sandy’s Oasis in the Desert for 400g each and grow them in the Greenhouse if you don’t have Ancient Fruit yet.
