Best Early Weapons in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Updated April 2026 · 3 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
The best early weapons in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom are not just specific weapon drops — they are good base weapons fused with strong materials. Early on, use Soldier weapons, Construct weapons, spears, and monster horns to create reliable damage. The real power spike comes from Fuse: even a basic sword becomes strong when fused with a Captain Construct Horn, Moblin Horn, Lizalfos Horn, or other high-attack material.
Best Early Weapons and Fuse Materials
1
Soldier weapons — reliable early bases. Soldier swords, spears, and broadswords are common early base weapons around Central Hyrule, ruins, camps, and soldier-themed locations. Do not worry too much about the base attack number early on — fuse a monster horn, rock, boulder, or Construct Horn to turn a basic weapon into something useful.
2
Fuse mechanic — the real early game power spike. Use Fuse to attach monster horns, rocks, boulders, spikes, and other materials to your weapons. Captain Construct Horns, Moblin Horns, Boss Bokoblin Horns, and Lizalfos Horns are much more realistic early upgrades than Lynel parts. Later, once you want a permanent reliable weapon, work toward the Master Sword.
3
Construct weapons — great right after the tutorial. Soldier Construct Horns and Captain Construct Horns are easy to get from Construct enemies and make excellent early fusion materials. A simple sword or spear fused with a Construct Horn is enough for most early camps, caves, and shrines.
4
Gibdo Bone — powerful but fragile. Gibdo Bones are excellent for burst damage because they add very high fuse power, but they break after one hit when fused to melee weapons. Use them mostly for arrows, boss openings, or emergency damage rather than as your everyday early weapon material.
5
Spears and one-handed weapons — safest for beginners. Spears give reach, while one-handed swords let you keep a shield ready. Fuse Lizalfos Horns, Construct Horns, or Bokoblin Horns for reliable early damage. If you are exploring far from towns to farm materials, extra stamina helps a lot, so pair this with our stamina upgrade guide.
Tips
→
Fuse almost every weapon before combat — even a basic rock, boulder, spike, or monster horn adds useful damage. Save rare materials for tougher enemies, but do not fight with completely unfused weapons unless you have no choice.
→
Do not rely on menu Unfuse to save rare materials — removing a fused material from your inventory destroys that material. To recover both the weapon and the material, go to Pelison in Tarrey Town and pay 20 rupees to separate them safely.
→
Construct Horns are excellent early fuse materials because Construct enemies appear often near tutorial and Sky Island areas. Save Captain Construct Horns for tougher fights and use basic horns on weaker enemies.
→
The Sensor+ upgrade can help track enemies, weapons, or materials later, but early on it is faster to clear nearby camps, caves, and ruins for monster horns and base weapons.
