⚡ Quick Answer

Demiguise Statues (silver monkey statues holding a moon) are collected and given to Gladwin Moon at Hogwarts to upgrade Alohomora. There are 30 total — 9 in Hogwarts castle, 6 in Hogsmeade, and 15 scattered across the open world regions. You can only collect them at night — the moons glow when it’s dark. Collecting 9 unlocks Alohomora Level 2; collecting all 22 unlocks Level 3. Use Revelio near buildings to spot nearby statues.

How to Find and Use Demiguise Statues
1 Unlock the Demiguise Statue quest from Gladwin Moon first. Demiguise Statues cannot be collected until you’ve spoken to Gladwin Moon — the Hogwarts caretaker found mopping floors near the entrance corridor on the ground floor. He appears during «The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament» quest, which unlocks automatically after you learn Alohomora from him as part of the main story progression (around Level 10–12). Without this quest active, Demiguise Statues are invisible in the world — you literally cannot see or interact with them. Complete the quest trigger conversation with Moon first, then begin exploring.
2 Statues only glow (and can be collected) at night — wait if it’s daytime. Demiguise Statues are small silver monkey figures holding a crescent moon. Their moon glows bright white at night but is dim and nearly invisible during the day. You cannot collect them during daylight hours — interacting with them does nothing. To change the time of day: find a bench or campfire and select «Wait until nightfall» — this advances time to night instantly with no in-game cost. Always switch to night before specifically hunting Demiguise Statues. The time of day does not affect gameplay otherwise — enemies, shops, and quests function identically at night.
3 Hogwarts Castle — 9 statues, all inside locked rooms and corridors. The 9 Hogwarts statues are distributed across all floors of the castle. They appear in: the Library (upper floors), the Astronomy Tower area, the Dungeons near the Potions classroom, the Transfiguration Courtyard, the Clock Tower region, and several faculty corridors. Use Revelio repeatedly as you walk through the castle — yellow highlights show interactable objects including Demiguise Statues when nearby. Many are behind Level 1 and Level 2 locked doors, meaning you need Alohomora Level 1 (base) and Level 2 (9 statues delivered) to access all of them. Collect as many as possible during normal Hogwarts exploration rather than making dedicated runs.
4 Hogsmeade — 6 statues, all inside buildings. All 6 Hogsmeade statues are inside shops and houses in the village — none are outdoors. The shops with statues include: J. Pippin’s Potions, Gladrags Wizardwear, Tomes and Scrolls, the Three Broomsticks, and two residential buildings in the northern and southern parts of town. Enter each building at night and use Revelio to locate the statue inside. Most are on shelves, countertops, or in backrooms behind staff doors (requiring Alohomora Level 1). The Hogsmeade statues are some of the easiest to collect since the village is accessible from early in the game — prioritise them during your initial Hogsmeade exploration for quick early statue count.
5 Open world statues — inside buildings in small villages and hamlets. The remaining 15 statues are inside buildings in the game’s various small settlements scattered across the open world map. Every named hamlet and village on the map contains at least 1–2 Demiguise Statues in its buildings. The most efficient approach: when you discover a new village during exploration, immediately enter each building at night and use Revelio. Small settlements usually have 2–3 accessible buildings each containing 1 statue. Key villages to prioritise: Irondale (Feldcroft Region), Brocburrow (South Hogwarts), Pitt-upon-Ford (Hogwarts Valley), and Keenbridge (Hogwarts Valley) — these have the highest concentration of statues per area visited.
6 Deliver statues to Moon for Alohomora upgrades — don’t hoard them. After collecting statues, return to Gladwin Moon at Hogwarts and select «I have some Demiguise Moons for you» to trade them. 9 statues delivered → Alohomora Level 2 (opens Level 2 locks throughout the game). 22 statues total delivered → Alohomora Level 3 (opens all locks in the game, including Level 3 vaults in the open world). Deliver immediately after each collection session rather than hoarding. Alohomora Level 2 is particularly important — many of the best Legendary gear chests are behind Level 2 locks in the open world.
Demiguise Statue Tips
Use Revelio constantly — it highlights statues through walls: Revelio (the detection spell) highlights all nearby interactable objects in yellow, including Demiguise Statues — even through walls and floors. Spam Revelio as you explore each building rather than searching visually. The statue’s yellow highlight is visible through wood and stone, making it much faster to locate them in multi-room buildings. Upgrade Revelio range in the Talents menu to increase the detection radius.
The Field Guide tracks which areas you’ve collected from — use it: open your Field Guide and navigate to the Collections section to see Demiguise Statue progress broken down by region. Areas where you’ve collected all statues show as complete — areas with remaining statues are flagged. This prevents re-checking areas you’ve already cleared and tells you exactly which regions to focus on for the final few statues before Level 3 unlock.
Pair statue hunting with Merlin Trial completion in the same regions: Merlin Trials and Demiguise Statues are often in the same open world areas — visiting a region for statues and clearing all Merlin Trials in the same pass is the most efficient exploration approach. One trip to Feldcroft can clear 3 statues and 4–5 Merlin Trials simultaneously, significantly boosting your gear inventory space and Alohomora progress in one session.
Alohomora Level 2 opens more doors than Level 1 and Level 3 combined: Level 2 locks are the most common locked door type in the game — the majority of buildings with interesting loot use Level 2 locks. Getting 9 statues to Moon as early as possible dramatically increases the number of locations you can fully explore and the quality of gear available. Prioritise the 9 Hogwarts + Hogsmeade statues (all near each other) before exploring the open world for the remainder.
You only need 22 of 30 for full Alohomora — 8 statues are truly optional: Alohomora reaches maximum level (Level 3) after delivering 22 statues to Moon. The remaining 8 statues beyond 22 give no reward and are purely for 100% completion. Once you have 22 delivered and Level 3 unlocked, any remaining statues you find can be collected casually without dedicated hunting — no pressure to find them all.
Demiguise Statues are one of Hogwarts Legacy’s most rewarding collectibles because their payoff — maximum Alohomora — directly unlocks content rather than providing a cosmetic reward. Every Level 3 locked room in the game becomes accessible with the full statue collection, and those rooms consistently contain the highest-rarity gear, large amounts of gold, and unique cosmetic items. The night-only requirement is a design constraint that forces players to engage with the day/night cycle and naturally distributes statue hunting across play sessions rather than allowing players to sweep them all in one go. The most common mistake is collecting statues without delivering them to Moon — always deliver immediately since Alohomora Level 2 unlocks as soon as you deliver the 9th statue, regardless of total collected. For the full picture of what you can access with Alohomora Level 3, combining maximum Alohomora with the best Legendary gear from unlocked chests and your upgraded Loom traits creates the strongest possible endgame character build.
