Best Talents to Unlock First in Hogwarts Legacy
TipsHogwarts Legacy has five talent trees: Core, Spells, Dark Arts, Stealth, and Room of Requirement. You cannot max all trees in a single playthrough — the level cap gives you roughly 36 talent points total, so specializing matters. Dark Arts talents are strong but require unlocking the Unforgivable Curses first.
⚡ Quick Answer
Top Talents by PriorityPrioritize Spell Knowledge I and II (Core tree) to get two extra spell sets, then grab Ancient Magic Throw Expertise and Wiggenweld Potency I for survivability. In combat, Accio Mastery and Expelliarmus Mastery are early game-changers. Avoid spreading points across all trees — go deep in one or two first.
1
Spell Knowledge I & II (Core) — Unlocks a second and third spell set, giving you access to 12 spells in combat instead of 4. The single biggest upgrade in the game.
2
Ancient Magic Throw Expertise (Core) — Your Ancient Magic Throw now breaks enemy shields of any color. Removes the need to match shield color with specific spells early on.
3
Wiggenweld Potency I & II (Core) — Each potion heals significantly more. Since you rely on potions for most of the early game, this stretches every heal you have.
4
Accio Mastery (Spells) — Pulls in nearby enemies when you cast Accio on one target. Excellent for grouping enemies before following up with a strong attack.
5
Expelliarmus Mastery (Spells) — Disarming an enemy now deals damage too. One of the most efficient talents per talent point in the entire game.
6
Protego Absorption (Core) — Successful Protego blocks charge your Ancient Magic meter. Makes defensive play rewarding and keeps your most powerful attacks available more often.

Talents require level 5 minimum to start unlocking — you earn one talent point per level from that point on.
→
Stealth players should add Sense of Secrecy I & II (Stealth tree) early — they reduce enemy detection range significantly in Hogwarts interiors.
→
Room of Requirement players benefit from Focus Potion Potency and Headache — these supercharge plant and potion builds in the mid game.
→
There are no refunds on talent points — plan your first 10 picks before spending any, especially on a first playthrough.
