How to Get Avada Kedavra in Hogwarts Legacy

Avada Kedavra is one of three Unforgivable Curses in Hogwarts Legacy. The other two — Cruciatus and Imperio — are also unlockable via Sebastian’s questline in earlier missions. None of them affect your ending or morality score in the game.

Step by Step
Complete Sebastian Sallow’s relationship questline until the mission In the Shadow of the Relic. When Sebastian offers to teach you the Unforgivable Curse, choose the dialogue option to accept. Avada Kedavra is then permanently added to your spell inventory. This is missable — do not report Sebastian before this quest.

Progress through Sebastian Sallow’s relationship quests throughout the main story. They unlock naturally as you level up and complete story missions.

Reach the quest In the Shadow of the Relic — this is the final quest in Sebastian’s arc and where the spell becomes available.

When Sebastian asks if you want to learn the killing curse, select «Yes, teach me» (or equivalent). If you decline, the opportunity is gone for that playthrough.

Open the spell assignment menu and drag Avada Kedavra to any slot. It costs a full spell slot but deals instant death to most enemies.

Available for all houses — your house choice at the start does not affect access to this quest or the spell.

Do not report Sebastian to Ominis or the Underbeak before completing In the Shadow of the Relic — doing so ends his questline permanently and locks the spell.

Instant kill on most enemies including large trolls and Inferius — but it does not work on certain bosses with special mechanics.

The spell has a long cooldown, so combine it with other Ancient Magic or crowd control spells for maximum efficiency.
