How to Get Junimo Huts in Stardew Valley

⚡ Quick Answer
Complete the Community Center to unlock the Wizard’s Buildings menu, then purchase the Junimo Hut for 20,000g, 200 Stone, 9 Starfruit, and 100 Fiber. Junimos automatically harvest all crops within a 17×17 tile radius every day — the single most impactful farm automation upgrade in the game.
How to Get Junimo Huts
1
Complete the Community Center first. Junimo Huts are purchased from the Wizard’s Buildings menu — unlocked only after completing the Community Center. This is the primary prerequisite. If you chose the Joja route instead, Junimo Huts are NOT available — they are exclusive to Community Center completion. Completing the Community Center typically takes until Year 2 for most players.
2
Gather the materials. Each Junimo Hut costs: 20,000g, 200 Stone, 9 Starfruit, and 100 Fiber. Starfruit is the bottleneck — it only grows in Summer from Starfruit Seeds sold by Sandy at the Oasis in the Desert for 400g each. Grow 9 Starfruit in Summer to stockpile for the hut. Fiber is cut from weeds on your farm using any tool. Stone comes from mining.
3
Visit the Wizard and access his Buildings menu. After completing the Community Center, visit the Wizard’s Tower south of your farm (open 6am–11pm). A new Buildings option appears in his menu alongside the usual witch/magic options. Select it to see all Wizard-exclusive buildings including the Junimo Hut. Purchase it and Robin constructs it within 3 days.
4
Place the hut strategically for maximum coverage. Each Junimo Hut sends out Junimos to harvest crops within a 17×17 tile area centered on the hut (8 tiles in each direction). Plan your farm layout with this radius in mind — a single hut covers up to 289 tiles of crops. For large farms, place multiple huts with overlapping coverage zones to ensure every crop is harvested. The hut itself takes up a 3×3 tile footprint.
5
Junimos harvest automatically — collect from the hut. Every morning Junimos exit the hut and harvest all mature crops within range — they collect everything into the hut’s internal storage. Open the hut (right-click) to collect all harvested crops at once. Junimos only work on sunny days — they stay inside during rain. They also only harvest during daytime hours and return to the hut in the evening automatically.
Junimo Hut Tips
→
The single best quality-of-life upgrade in the game: once Junimo Huts are operational, you never manually harvest crops again. The time savings across a full farm of crops are enormous — what previously took 30–60 minutes of real time per in-game day becomes a 10-second hut collection. Build as many as needed to cover your entire farm and focus your daily energy on other activities.
→
Junimos do not work on rainy days: on rainy days Junimos stay inside their hut and crops are not harvested. This is the only significant limitation — crops that mature on a rainy day must be manually harvested or wait until the next sunny day. Plan planting schedules around rain forecasts when precision timing matters, particularly for Ancient Fruit and high-value crops at season’s end.
→
Junimos harvest quality crops: Junimos harvest crops at whatever quality level they grow — Gold and Iridium quality crops are collected just as Silver and normal quality ones are. They do not reduce quality. However, they cannot harvest crops that require tools (Giant Crops) or crops in kegs/preserves jars. Standard trellis crops like Hops and Grapes ARE harvested normally by Junimos.
→
Use the Greenhouse for year-round coverage: Junimo Huts placed inside the Greenhouse harvest crops year-round without seasonal limits — Ancient Fruit, Starfruit, and other high-value crops produce continuously with zero harvesting effort. A Junimo Hut inside the Greenhouse is the ultimate passive income setup in Stardew Valley, requiring only watering (or Iridium Sprinklers) and weekly Keg loading.
→
You can change Junimo colours: place different coloured gems in the Junimo Hut’s chest to change the Junimos’ appearance — Amethyst makes them purple, Topaz makes them orange, Emerald makes them green, and so on. This is purely cosmetic but a fun customisation for players who want to match their farm’s aesthetic. Ruby makes them red — matching the accent colour if you are building a themed farm.
FAQ
How do you get Junimo Huts in Stardew Valley?
Complete the Community Center to unlock the Wizard’s Buildings menu. Visit the Wizard’s Tower south of your farm and select Buildings to purchase a Junimo Hut for 20,000g, 200 Stone, 9 Starfruit, and 100 Fiber. Junimo Huts are not available if you chose the Joja Mart route — they are exclusive to Community Center completion.
How far do Junimos harvest in Stardew Valley?
Junimos harvest all mature crops within a 17×17 tile area centered on the hut — 8 tiles in each direction. A single hut covers up to 289 tiles of crops. For farms larger than this radius, multiple Junimo Huts with overlapping coverage zones ensure complete automated harvesting across the entire farm.
Do Junimos harvest on rainy days in Stardew Valley?
No — Junimos stay inside their hut on rainy days and do not harvest crops. Crops that mature on rainy days must be manually harvested or wait until the next sunny day. This is the only significant limitation of the Junimo Hut system. Plan planting schedules around rain forecasts for time-sensitive crops near season-end deadlines.
Where do you get Starfruit for the Junimo Hut?
Starfruit Seeds are sold by Sandy at the Oasis in the Calico Desert for 400g each — the Desert is unlocked by repairing the bus through the Community Center or Joja. Starfruit grows in Summer only and takes 13 days to mature. Buy 9 seeds early in Summer, plant them, harvest at the end of Summer, and store until you are ready to build the Junimo Hut.
