How to Respec Your Character Step by Step
To respec your character in Baldur’s Gate 3, talk to Withers at your camp and select «I’d like to change my class.» It costs 100 gold per respec and lets you completely rebuild your character from level 1 — class, subclass, ability scores, spells, and cantrips. Withers joins your camp automatically after you find and free him from his sarcophagus in the Dank Crypt near the crash site.

Find Withers in the Dank Crypt. The crypt is located near the Overgrown Ruins east of the crash site at the start of the game. Enter through the front door or a side hatch. Navigate through the trapped interior to find a sealed sarcophagus room — interact with it to wake Withers.

Speak to Withers and exhaust his dialogue. He will ask you a philosophical question — your answer doesn’t matter. After the conversation he disappears from the crypt and automatically appears at your camp the next time you rest there.

Long Rest to trigger his arrival if he hasn’t appeared yet. Go to camp via the map or the campfire button, take a Long Rest, and Withers will be standing near the edge of camp when you wake up. He stays permanently for the rest of the playthrough.
