⚡ Quick Answer

Each legendary fish has a specific location, season, and weather condition. Use the Cork Bobber tackle and eat Seafoam Pudding or Dish o’ the Sea before casting to boost your fishing bar. Each legendary fish can only be caught once per save (except in Qi’s Extended Family quest). The hardest is the Legend — caught in the Mountain Lake in Spring while raining, requiring Fishing level 10.

All 5 Legendary Fish — Locations and Conditions
1 Legend — Mountain Lake (east side, near the log), Spring only, raining, Fishing level 10 required. The largest and most difficult fish in the game. Cast as far right as possible near the log for best results.
2 Mutant Carp — The Sewers (unlocked with the Rusty Key from Gunther after donating 60 Museum items). Available any season, any weather, any time. No level requirement — one of the easier legendaries to catch mechanically.
3 Crimsonfish — East Pier on the Beach, Summer only, any weather, Fishing level 5 required. Cast from the very end of the pier eastward into deep water for the highest chance of it appearing.
4 Angler — North of JojaMart bridge (the wooden bridge above the town), Fall only, any weather, Fishing level 3 required. Fish from the north side of the bridge facing the water above it.
5 Glacierfish — South tip of Arrowhead Island in Cindersap Forest, Winter only, any weather, Fishing level 6 required. Stand on the very southern tip of the small island — you need to reach it via the bridge on the south side of the forest.
Tips for Catching Them
Eat Seafoam Pudding (+4 Fishing) before every attempt — it’s the strongest fishing buff in the game and makes legendary fish significantly more manageable. Cook it with Sardine + Bread + Any Milk.
Use the Cork Bobber tackle (crafted at Fishing level 7) — it increases the size of your green catch bar, giving you more room to keep the fish in range during the minigame.
The Trap Bobber tackle is an alternative — it slows how fast the fish escapes the bar when you’re not clicking. Great for erratic fish like the Legend that dart up and down unpredictably.
In 1.6 and later, Mr Qi’s Extended Family quest lets you catch a second version of each legendary fish (as Extended Family variants) across different locations — check your Special Orders board after catching all five originals.
Legendary fish are each catchable only once, so there’s no rush — wait for the right season, stock up on Seafoam Pudding, and go on a high-Luck day for the best experience. The fishing minigame gets easier the higher your Fishing skill, so if you’re struggling, grind regular fishing first to reach the required level with a buffer of extra skill points.
