How to Get a Void Egg in Stardew Valley
Updated April 2026 · 2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
The easiest way to get a Void Egg is from the Witch’s random visit — she flies over your coop at night and leaves one behind if you have an empty coop slot. You can also buy one from the Krobus shop in the Sewers for 5,000g on Fridays, or find one in a Witch’s Hut chest once you unlock the Witch’s Swamp late game.
How to Get a Void Egg
1
Witch’s visit (passive method): Build a Coop and leave at least one animal slot empty. The Witch has a random chance to fly over your farm at night and deposit a Void Egg inside. This can happen from Year 1 onwards — just keep a free slot in your coop and wait.
2
Krobus shop (reliable method): Unlock the Sewers by donating 60 items to the Museum to get the Rusty Key from Gunther. Visit Krobus in the Sewers on a Friday — he sells a Void Egg for 5,000g. This is the most consistent method if you don’t want to wait for the Witch.
3
Witch’s Swamp (late game): Complete the Dark Talisman and Goblin Problem questlines to access the Witch’s Hut. Inside, a chest contains a free Void Egg — a guaranteed source once you reach this point in the story.
4
Once you have a Void Egg, place it in an Incubator inside your Coop (Big Coop or larger). After 9 in-game days it hatches into a Void Chicken, which then lays Void Eggs daily — giving you a self-sustaining supply.
Tips
→
Void Eggs sell for 65g base (iridium quality: 130g) — not the most profitable egg, but Void Chickens count toward the Full Shipment achievement and the perfection tracker.
→
You can cook Void Mayonnaise using a Void Egg in the Mayonnaise Machine — it sells for 275g and is one of Krobus’s loved gifts, useful for building his friendship quickly.
→
The Witch only visits if your coop has a free animal slot — if your coop is full, she skips it. Keep one slot open in Year 1 if you want her to deliver the egg passively.
→
Once you have one Void Chicken laying eggs, put extras straight into the Incubator to hatch more — there’s no limit to how many Void Chickens you can keep in a Deluxe Coop (capacity 12).
