How to Level Up Fast in Elden Ring
Updated April 2026 · Rune farming guide · 3 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
The fastest way to level up fast in Elden Ring is to farm easy rune spots in each stage of the game. Early on, Gatefront Ruins and Stormhill are solid options, but the best late-game farming spot is Palace Approach Ledge-Road in Mohgwyn Palace, where you can earn huge rune payouts in very short runs.
Best Rune Farming Spots by Game Stage
1
Early game — Gatefront Ruins (Limgrave). The soldier camp near the Gatefront Site of Grace is one of the safest early rune farms. Clear the camp, rest, and repeat. It is not the highest rune farm in the game, but it is easy, consistent, and ideal for getting your first few levels and practice. Getting Torrent early also makes these farming loops much faster.
2
Early-mid game — Stormhill giants. The giants around Stormhill are a reliable early farming option because they give solid runes and are predictable once you learn their moves. This method becomes much easier if you already have one of the best early weapons in Elden Ring.
3
Mid game — Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow and Caelid routes. Once you can survive Caelid, several areas there become much better for rune farming than Limgrave. Dragonbarrow enemies, smaller farming loops, and nearby high-value kills can speed up leveling a lot before you unlock Mohgwyn Palace.
4
Best overall — Palace Approach Ledge-Road (Mohgwyn Palace). This is the most famous rune farming spot in Elden Ring. The Albinaurics here are close together, easy to reset, and extremely efficient once you have a decent weapon or AOE option. It becomes available later than Limgrave farms, but the rune gain is massively better and makes it the go-to location for fast leveling.
Tips to Maximize Rune Farming
→
Equip the Gold Scarab whenever possible. It boosts rune gain from every kill and is one of the best talismans in the game if your goal is leveling faster.
→
Use Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot before longer farming sessions for an extra rune boost. It stacks well with Gold Scarab and makes the best farming routes even more efficient.
→
Spend your runes before attempting difficult bosses or risky exploration. Farming efficiently means nothing if you lose a large stack right before a big fight.
→
Level Vigor first before overcommitting to damage stats. Surviving longer usually speeds progression up more than a small damage increase, especially if you have not settled on your final build yet. If you want to pivot later, here is how to respec your character.
