How to Get to the Consecrated Snowfield in Elden Ring
Updated April 2026 · 3 min read
⚡ Quick Answer
Collect both halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion — the Left half from Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics (Liurnia), the Right half from Commander Niall at Castle Sol (Mountaintops of the Giants). Then use the Grand Lift of Rold with the Secret Medallion option to descend into the Consecrated Snowfield.
How to Get to the Consecrated Snowfield
1
Get the Left half — Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left). Travel to the Village of the Albinaurics in southern Liurnia of the Lakes — the village built into the hillside south of the Academy. Find the large pot near the top of the village and hit it to reveal Albus, an old Albinauric NPC. Speak to him and he gives you the Left half before fading away. This is available from early game.
2
Get the Right half — defeat Commander Niall at Castle Sol. The Right half is dropped by Commander Niall at the top of Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Castle Sol is in the northeast of the Mountaintops map. Reach the Mountaintops by using the Grand Lift of Rold (with the Rold Medallion obtained after defeating Morgott) and travelling east through Forbidden Lands.
3
Return to the Grand Lift of Rold. The Grand Lift of Rold is in the Forbidden Lands — the dark corridor area east of Leyndell. Fast travel to the Grand Lift of Rold Site of Grace. Stand on the lift platform and when prompted to hoist the Medallion, hold the interact button and select «Hoist Secret Medallion» instead of the standard Rold Medallion option.
4
Descend into the Consecrated Snowfield. The Secret Medallion sends the lift downward instead of upward — you arrive in the Consecrated Snowfield, a vast hidden area shrouded in an eternal blizzard. Activate the first Site of Grace immediately. The Snowfield is extremely large and visibility is near zero in the storm — use your map and the few visible landmarks to navigate.
5
Navigate to the Haligtree entrance. From the Consecrated Snowfield, travel north and northwest through the blizzard toward the Apostate Derelict and then the Ordina, Liturgical Town — a ghostly city in the north of the Snowfield. Completing Ordina’s evergaol puzzle (light 4 torches while avoiding assassins) opens the portal to Miquella’s Haligtree.
Consecrated Snowfield Tips
→
The blizzard limits visibility severely: the Consecrated Snowfield is permanently shrouded in a whiteout blizzard — visibility drops to about 10–15 metres in most areas. Use your map constantly and navigate by compass direction rather than landmarks. The area is enormous and it is easy to become completely disoriented without regularly checking your position.
→
Albus in the village is hidden in a pot: many players miss the Left Medallion half entirely because Albus is disguised as an ordinary pot. Walk to the upper section of the Village of the Albinaurics — past all the Albinauric enemies — and look for the large pot sitting alone near the wall. Strike it once to reveal Albus and receive the medallion half in the conversation that follows.
→
Astel, Stars of Darkness is here: the Consecrated Snowfield contains an optional boss — Astel, Stars of Darkness — in a cave in the southwest of the region. A second Astel fight with a slightly different moveset. Defeating it is not required for Haligtree access but rewards a Remembrance and significant runes.
→
Torrent is essential for navigation: the Consecrated Snowfield is too large and hostile to traverse on foot. Always use Torrent to move quickly through the blizzard and avoid the powerful enemies — Putrid Avatars, Scarlet Rot bears, and Black Knife Assassins all patrol the area. Torrent’s double jump also helps navigate the area’s terrain irregularities in low visibility.
→
Recommended level 100–110: the Consecrated Snowfield and its enemies are tuned for late-game characters. Enemies here hit harder than most Mountaintops enemies. Arrive with Soul Level 100+ and a +22 or higher weapon. Ordina’s assassins are particularly dangerous — they are invisible Black Knife Assassins that one-shot underprepared players.
FAQ
How do you get the Haligtree Secret Medallion in Elden Ring?
The Left half is obtained from Albus — an old Albinauric hidden inside a pot in the Village of the Albinaurics in southern Liurnia. Strike the pot to reveal him and speak to him for the medallion. The Right half is dropped by Commander Niall at the top of Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Both halves are required.
Where is the Grand Lift of Rold in Elden Ring?
The Grand Lift of Rold is in the Forbidden Lands — the dark corridor area east of the Erdtree and Leyndell, Royal Capital. Access it after defeating Morgott, the Omen King in Leyndell, which rewards the Rold Medallion needed to operate the lift. The lift has two functions: the standard Rold Medallion option goes up, the Secret Medallion option goes down into the Consecrated Snowfield.
What is in the Consecrated Snowfield in Elden Ring?
The Consecrated Snowfield contains Ordina, Liturgical Town (required for Haligtree access), Astel Stars of Darkness (optional boss), Putrid Avatar enemies, Black Knife Assassins, unique weapons and armor, and significant lore items. It is the gateway to Miquella’s Haligtree and Malenia, Blade of Miquella — the game’s hardest optional boss.
How do you complete Ordina, Liturgical Town in Elden Ring?
Enter the Evergaol in Ordina to be transported to a ghostly version of the town. Light all 4 statues (torches) in the town while avoiding invisible Black Knife Assassins who patrol the area. The assassins are very dangerous — use stealth and exploit their patrol routes to reach each statue. Lighting all 4 opens the portal to Miquella’s Haligtree at the top of the town.
