⚡ Quick Answer

Go to the Mistwood in East Limgrave and find the Siofra River Well — a small stone structure with a lift inside. Activate the lift and ride it down. You can access this area very early in the game, right after getting Torrent.

How to Reach Siofra River
1 Head to Mistwood in East Limgrave. From the Elleh Church Site of Grace, ride east on Torrent past the Mistwood forest. The area is the large dark forest southeast of Stormveil Castle.
2 Find the Siofra River Well. It sits on the eastern edge of Mistwood, just south of the Minor Erdtree in that region. Look for a circular stone structure with a set of stairs leading down into it — coordinates roughly at the center-east of Limgrave on your map.
3 Activate the lift inside. Descend the stairs into the well and interact with the lever to call the lift. Step onto the platform and ride it all the way down — it’s a long descent into the underground region beneath the Lands Between.
4 Activate the Site of Grace at the bottom immediately. Siofra River is a large area and you’ll want a fast travel point before exploring. The enemies here are significantly stronger than surface Limgrave — come prepared with upgraded weapons and decent flask charges.
What to Do in Siofra River
Light the 8 flame pillars scattered across the riverbank to unlock a powerful chest near the Ancestor Spirit boss fog gate. Each pillar requires you to defeat a ghost enemy nearby before it can be lit.
Find Blaidd’s questline: Siofra River is key to Blaidd’s story. After hearing his howl in Mistwood, speak to Ranni’s witch in the Church of Elleh at night, then come here to advance his quest and eventually reach Nokron, Eternal City.
Watch out for the Ancestral Follower archers. These enemies deal heavy ranged damage and are hard to close the gap on. Use pillars and ruins as cover and close distance quickly with Torrent — you can ride your horse in most of this area.
Access to Nokron: deeper sections of the underground connect to Nokron, Eternal City — but that area only opens after defeating Radahn, which causes a meteor to create a new passage from the surface.
Great rune farming: the underground rivers have excellent rune farming spots. The area near the cliff edges has groups of enemies that can be cleared quickly for solid early-game rune income to level up fast.
Siofra River is one of the most visually striking areas in Elden Ring — a vast underground sky with stars overhead and ancient ruins below. It’s accessible earlier than most players expect, making it a great source of runes and exploration when you’re stuck on a surface boss. Just don’t go straight for the Ancestor Spirit boss until you’ve lit all 8 flame pillars, or the fog gate won’t open. FAQ
How early can you access Siofra River? You can enter Siofra River immediately after getting Torrent from Melina, making it one of the earliest optional areas in the game. However, the enemies are scaled for mid-game, so expect a challenge if you go in under-levelled.
Where exactly is the Siofra River Well? It is located on the eastern edge of Mistwood in East Limgrave, just south of the Minor Erdtree in that area. On the map it appears as a small icon on the border between Mistwood and the open plains to the east.
Is Siofra River connected to Nokron? Yes — Siofra River and Nokron, Eternal City are part of the same underground network. However, Nokron is only accessible after defeating Radahn, which causes a meteor to open a passage from the Mistwood surface down into Nokron.
What is the recommended level for Siofra River? Around level 40–60 is comfortable for exploring Siofra River fully. The Ancestor Spirit boss at the end of the flame pillar ritual is particularly tough and is best approached once you have a +4 or higher weapon upgrade.
