There is also a shortcut — a narrow path on the left (west) side of Stormveil Castle that bypasses the dungeon entirely and leads directly into Liurnia. The shortcut is accessible from the Limgrave Tower Bridge Site of Grace. Once in Liurnia, the Academy is visible as a large castle on the central island surrounded by the lake.

The key is located on a corpse on a small rocky island northwest of the Academy — look for a glowing blue item on the shore. The water in Liurnia is shallow enough for Torrent to walk through — ride directly to the island rather than looking for a land path. The key sits on the north side of the island near a cliff face.

Use the key at the South Raya Lucaria Gate. With the Glintstone Key in your inventory, ride to the South Raya Lucaria Gate — the main entrance on the south side of the Academy island. If you missed the key on the island or want a second copy, Thops — an NPC sorcerer found at the Church of Irith in southern Liurnia — asks for a Glintstone Key as part of his questline. He is requesting a spare to access the Academy himself. You can also find a second key inside the Academy once you are already inside — but the island key is the intended first source. Thops’s questline rewards include the Thops’s Barrier spell and backstory lore about the Academy.

Navigate the Academy to reach Rennala. The Academy of Raya Lucaria is a legacy dungeon with multiple levels. The main path: Church of the Cuckoo → Schoolhouse Classroom bonfire → fight through the courtyard and library → Debate Parlor bonfire → Rennala’s fog gate. The Academy contains numerous Glintstone Sorcerer enemies and Abductor Virgin machines — the Debate Parlor bonfire is the most important checkpoint before the boss.
