⚡ Quick Answer

Morgott, the Omen King is a fast two-phase boss with delayed Holy attacks, wide combos, and strong punishes at mid range. To beat Morgott, stay close and to his left side so most of his weapon swings pass around you, then punish at the end of his combo strings. In Phase 2 he adds a rain of golden swords, so keep moving constantly to avoid them. He is weak to bleed and poison. Recommended level: 80–90. Use Melina’s summon at the fog gate to split his aggression.

Phase 1 — The Omen King
1 Morgott opens aggressively with his cursed sword and holy daggers. Stay within melee range — his most dangerous attacks are his long-range holy projectiles and leaping strikes. Hug his left flank and dodge into his swings rather than away from them.
2 Watch for his delayed dagger throw — he summons multiple holy daggers above you that drop after a short pause. The tell is him raising his free hand upward. Dodge sideways just as they begin to fall, not when he raises his hand.
3 His most punishable moment is after his three-hit sword combo — he pauses briefly after the third strike. This is your primary damage window. Get in two or three hits then back off before his follow-up attack.
Phase 2 — Rain of Gold
4 Phase 2 triggers around 50% HP. Morgott summons a rain of golden swords across the arena — keep moving constantly and never stand still. The swords track your position at the moment they land, so continuous movement avoids almost all of them.
5 He gains a new Holy spear thrust in Phase 2 — he conjures a long golden lance and thrusts forward with extreme range. Dodge sideways at the last moment. The hitbox is narrow despite its visual size — a single roll to either side clears it cleanly.
6 Maintain pressure between his attack strings. Morgott has short recovery windows, so the key to beating him is punishing every combo ending with one or two fast hits instead of overcommitting. Bleed weapons proc quickly on him due to his moderate bleed resistance, dealing a significant portion of his HP per proc.
Best Tips to Beat Morgott
Melina’s summon is free and strong — interact with the summon sign outside the fog gate before entering. She deals solid damage and draws aggression effectively, giving you consistent openings throughout the fight.
Holy damage resistance helps — equip the Haligdrake Talisman or use Boiled Prawn to reduce Holy damage taken. Most of Morgott’s worst hits deal Holy damage, so even 15–20% resistance adds up over a long fight.
Morgott’s Cursed Sword is dropped after the fight — one of the best curved greatswords in the game with built-in bleed and a powerful weapon skill. Worth picking up even if you don’t plan to use it immediately.
He is the same enemy as Margit from early game but significantly stronger — if you remember Margit’s attack patterns from your first encounter, most of Morgott’s moves will feel familiar with added complexity. If you want to compare both fights, check how to beat Margit, the Fell Omen.
Morgott is the final boss of Leyndell, Royal Capital and one of the most cinematic fights in Elden Ring. Defeating him opens the path to the Mountaintops of the Giants and the final stretch of the main story. He is one of the best-designed bosses in the game — aggressive and complex but fair, with readable tells once you have seen them a few times. Most players beat him within 5–10 attempts at the recommended level. More Elden Ring guides
